I have just tried twice to install SP2 in a TINY PC running Xp Home.
After the first install it started to boot but simply stopped part way
through. I have now reformatted the drive, reinstalled XP Home and
then tried to install SP2. Same problem again! Stops half way through
booting.
PC was virus infected originally but I formatted etc before the
install!

Any ideas please?

TIA

cheers,

Perhaps you have some incompatible hardware, have you tried removing all
peripherals including and memory cards or card readers.
When you did a reformat was it a proper format or is it using a Tiny
recovery CD, if its a recovery CD then I would run a full virus scan and
adware scan.

Got it sorted but I still don't know what happened! I did a complete
format and used a proper XP Home install CD. All installed fine and
then I put SP2 on again from a magazine CD which I've always used
without problems -- exactly the same problem again! Won't boot back up
and just hangs on the splash screen! reinstall yet again and this time
I used Windows Update to get what it thought I needed. Offered me SP2
so I downloaded it that way and this time it comes back up fine with
SP2 installed! Very odd!

cheers,
Len
