SP2 Firewall

Putting SP2 on for a friend and he had the firewall activated. Now that
I have put SP2 on it, the place to tick to activate or disactivate the
firewall is greyed out and set to disabled.

How to fix?

firewall and make sure that service is not disabled.

Thank you Jerry,
my firewall is also disabled i.e., the options are 'grayed' .... and it is
locked on "OFF" I so hope this works....my problem started when I uninstalled
my Norton LOL

It wasn't and I tried both "manual" and "auto" and no joy. So, I just
downloaded Sygate Personal and it's behaving marvelously.
