SP2 Failed to Download - Error Code 80072EE2

I went to the Windows Update web page last night and started to download
SP2. The download was extremely slow even though I have cable modem. When I
went to bed it was 2/3 downloaded. This morning I found that the download
failed with an error code 80072EE2. MS directed me to this newsgroup to get
assistance for this problem. Please explain what caused the failure and what
I should do now to get a good download. Thanks.

I am also having a problem downloading the file. Windows Update says I need
to download a 75 meg update to get SP2. I try to do the update that way but
it keeps failing. I just starts to download but then it fails almost
immediately.

I am taking your advice and I went to the url you list and am downloading
the full 266 meg file. When I open that after I download it, will it be
able to determine just what files I really need or will it install the
entire 266 megs??

When downloading that file, technically you are downloading every update SP2
contains, but it will only install the ones you need.

What I would do is connect to the net again, and it *ought* to pick up.
If it does not go back to Windows update and start the update again, as
if for the first time. That ought to pick up from where you had got to:
there is a chance that the end of the part you have got damaged, but it
is worth trying when you have got that far. And make sure the
screensaver is set to none or to blank screen
