SP2 causes Canon Multfunction Printers to fail

After installing SP2 my Canon Multipass F30 fails to print. I get an error
message: "Unable to communicate with the device. Please start MPService
from the Services applet in the Control Panel." If I restart MPService, the
printer will work for about 5 minutes before the message pops up again.
After searching the web, I have found that this is true for any Canon
multifunction printer. Canon's support page has no updates. Please help.

Thanks

Ken;
Contact Canon directly since there is nothing on their website.

I've found a solution to the problem. Even though I've turned the Microsoft
Firewall off, the Security Center is still running as a process. I use a
3rd-party firewall so I've disabled the MS firewall anyway. If you don't
care about using the MS Security Center and firewall, then this solution
should work for you.

1. Go to the Control Panel, select Administrative Tools and then Services.
2. Double-click on Security Center
3. On the General tab, select disabled for Startup Type, and Apply
4. On the Logon tab, click on your Hardware Profile to highlight it, click
Disable, then Apply.
5. On the Recovery tab, select Take No Action for every failure type and
then Apply.
6. Restart the computer.

Hopefully Canon will come out with a patch soon so those who do not want to
disable their firewall can still get the printer working.

The real question is what (if it is JUST an interface to your Firewall/AV
features) does the Security Center service change that prevents the
multipass's mpservic service from functioning properly?
