sp2 and gateway questions, please help

On my gateway, autoupdate started downloading sp2 but i did something, like
cancel the download and restart it and now it's stuck at 33%. so i can't
redownload it, cancel it, or do anything with it right now. what's wrong?
right now i DONT want sp2 or any of it's components. so how do i accomplish
this? as i said, i have a gateway, i've been hearing that sp2 has lots of
problems but it seems to work fine on my friend's dell. will it work good on
my gateway and is it worth it?

basically, i'm very confused with what to do with my computer and how i can
totally get rid of sp2 and leave it off or totally get rid of it and
redownload it and install it. any help is greatly appreciated.

Step 5 will delete what was already downloaded.

To temporarily stop SP-2 from downloading but still allowing other
Critical Updates:

Otherwise turn off Automatic Update:
Right click My Computer
Click Properties
Click Automatic Updates tab
Make selections as desired.

Follow the Service Pack Installation when you are ready to install
SP-2.

There is no particular reason why SP2 wouldn't work on your computer.
Gateway doesn't have much on their site about the SP2 upgrade, but if
it's a laptop check on the web site to see if there are any special
drivers needed for SP2. My desktop gateway 700XL updated just fine,
nothing special needed. Make sure you prepare the system properly and
have a complete backup before doing the upgrade. See these links for
