SP2 - access denied

I have tried about 6 times to install sp2. I disabled
everything that I thought might interfere, and it tries to
install then tells me it can't back up a registry key.

If I tell it to ignore that problem, it gives me the same
error about 5-6 times, then begins to install. About
halfway through install it says "Access Denied" and quits.

I tried to email SP2 support, but it collects the
information from my computer and get ready to mail it to
MS, then fails on the send, and hangs.

Anyone have a clue what is going on? I have not had a
problem with any updates before.
