I went to the download site to get Service Pack 1a. Since I was not
using IE, but rather Netscape, I downloaded the extractor file
sp1aexpress_usa.exe successfully. However, when I tried to run the
installation it halted midstream. I was in the stage of downloading
files and patches. The detail box said:
Connecting to http://xpSP1.microsoft.com/isapi/pstream3.dll/xp/SP1.USA.1106a

Then I got a Service Pack 1 Setup Error which said:
The following error occurred while Service Pack 1 Setup attempted to
download the Service Pack 1 files from the internet: The system cannot
find the file specified.

My cable connection was functioning, so I assume it was a problem with a
missing file on the MS download site. What do I do?

Thanks for any help.
Ken

Burn it to a CD. If MS changes/emove it, you will still have it (I did this
with the original SP1)

Download the whole thing here:

This is not the express download, it is: Windows XP Service Pack 1a Network
Install (32-Bit) for IT Professionals (all 125MB of it)

And if you do not have a broadband connection for that sort of download,
order it on a $10 CD -
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.asp
and down at the bottom is the link to order it.
