SP1a and atapi.sys problem

hi all

i just reinstalled my windows 98 and windows xp on the
same pc, i got a funny problem, everytime i run windows
update - SP1a, i got this msg:
d:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys is already opened or
using by other programs, close all app and click retry

ok, i tried under safe mode (downloaded full 123mb sp1a),
and i got the same message, can anyone help me? :O

Alpha,

a read-only attribute or missing access rights for that file
come to mind.

By the way, you might as well wait for Service Pack 2. It's
already available and will go to the automatic update very soon.
It replaces Service Pack 1a.

can i still install SP2 with this problem tho?
it is really annoying ... :/

If you have any virtual DVD/CD drives installed (i.e. Nero Drive Image or
Alcohol 120%'s virtual image loader), uninstall that and try the install
again.

That should do the trick
 
can i still install SP2 with this problem tho?
it is really annoying ... :/

You'd probably have the same problem again, so solve it first.
But then you could immediately try to install Service Pack 2 and
forget about Service Pack 1a.
