SP1 & Critical Updates - did they install?

I just built a new system and I am having troubles with the auto
update. I tried 3 times to download and install sp1, but the machine
crashed all 3 times during the update (made it through the download,
it died while installing...think I have bad memory sticks). When I
check the history, it shows that SP1 "failed" to install all 3 times,
but - when it scans for updates now, SP1 is not coming up and whn
clicking on "my computer" it says that SP1 has been installed. How
can I tell if SP has fully been loaded?

I also had the same thing happen for several other critical updates
(Machine crashed while installing updates). These also no longer come
up as needed when I "Scan for updates", but they show as "failed" in
the installation history???

Hw can I tell if these have been installed. Whats the easist way to
reinstall these f need be?

Is SP1 listed in Add or Remove or under System Properties or here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates
