SP 1, do I need it?

T

totally confused

If I'm not having any problems with Vista do I need to install the new
service pack?
My computer came with it preinstalled and I have no CD or backup. I've
tried several times to install it but keep getting error 8007371C. I went to
the manufacture and they said I need to do what sounds to me like to a
destructive recovery then install SP1. I see where a lot of people are
having problems with the new service pack. I guess what I'm asking is will I
be buying myself a headache if I install it???

Why must you install it? It has not been offered to my machine but I have no
complaints with performance so who cares? If you're having no problems, let
it go. Especially if you have been unable to install it. I think most
problems reported here are by those who simply must have it for no other
reason than it is there, and they force-install it..

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I don't recall who coined that
phrase, but it often makes sense. If Vista is stable and you have no
problems leave well enough alone. I installed SP1 hoping it would
finally fix the slow file copy issue. It didn't and now my system is
less stable than it was before SP1.

George,

If if ain't broke, don't fix it. REMEMBER That

More importantly and concerns me about your post is where you say your
computer came with it preinstalled and you have no CD or backup. Contact
your Manufacture immediately and demand a Restore disk and/or read over your
documentation that came with your system and see if they provided you a way
to make your own disk. A lot of HP's has a 1 [one] time backup software
installed so you can make a Restore disk, some provide a hidden partition
and a way to restore from that. Don't wait until it's to late George, do it
now. :>)
