Does anyone know why my computer makes strange sounds like slamming doors,
during the middle of the night if I have left it on?
 
Hard to tell from the given information. It could probably be programs
running in the background that you are not aware of. Could it be your AIM
instant messenger? When people sign off, I remember it has the "slamming
door" sound you described.
