Sound Speed Problem

I had Windows NT 4.0 on my machine and company went to
Windows 2000 and once installed on my machine all wav
files (system sounds, etc.) play at an accelerated rate.
What can I do to get them slowed back to normal?

I have the same problem, only a different scenario.

I have had Win2000 on my machine since new, a couple of
years now. I recently installed a Chiefs (NFL) theme and
I believe that it was created on Win98 or such. The date
on the theme is 99. I have no other themes on my machine.

Although the theme sounds play properly, everything else
is too fast. It doesn't matter if its a power point
presentation, Flash, .wav or streaming audio. It all
sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks (dating myself here).

Where is the fix? Ideas?
