Sound Problems

Hi all,

During installation of my Broadband modem I have had to
reinstall XP on my machine, and as a result I have lost
my sound.

I have tried the usual things uninstalling the device and
reinstalling. Reinstalling the drivers taking out the
sound card and reinserting it into the machine etc, but
to no avail.

Could someone please advice what is the best possible
solution to this problem.

Hi - Installing drivers for a broadband modem shouldn't have required
you to reinstall your operating system. Perhaps something larger is
wrong with your computer. Since you didn't give us details about why
you needed to reinstall Windows and what sound card you have, I can't
give more specific advice about that. If you know that your computer's
basic hardware (RAM, motherboard, hard drive) is OK, try swapping out
your sound card with a known-good one. Perhaps the old one died or is
one of those older Riptide combo ones that won't work with the modem
drivers. If you need more help, please repost and include important
details as suggested above, as well as what you've already done to
troubleshoot the problem.
