sound in dos mode games

I'm new to XP, had 98 before. Under 98 I had to add REM
to the set blaster line in autoexec.bat to get sound from
dos mode games when playing in windows. What do I need
to do in XP to get sound working in dos mode?

Thanks.

If your trying to play an older DOS based game, try using
the "Program Compatability Wizard" under accessories.
Already have your game disk in your drive & then start the
wizard. After you click "next" then select the 3rd
choice, "select the program manually", and then browse to
the setup.exe file on your game disk. Select the operating
system the game was designed for & let it install the game
through the wizard and after it's done follow the screen
prompts until finished. After complete, right click the
shortcut to the game & on the 3rd tab "compatability"
setup the same thing you did in the wizard. Game then
works with sound. If not then use the solution in the
other reply.
