Sound errors close browser windows with loud blast sound

I decided to download some upgrade sound files from the MS,
they were offered as an update to windows. Ever since I
did this whenever I open certain browser pages, a get a
dynamite explosion sound and the pages close. Sometimes it
just does it when I access list boxes (like to save a file
or fill in a form) and as long as the list is pulled down
(open) it continually makes these bomb sounds. I removed
the sound files using (add remove programs) but it still
does it. It does it Netscape, IE, and Opera 7.0 and 6.1
browsers. Does anyone know what is causing this? It is
especially irritating because the bomb sounds are really
loud and of course I want to view the pages that it won't
allow to open. Has anyone experienced this, and can tell
me what is causing it and/or what to do. I thank you in

That is the new sound that Microsoft uses for closing a window. Microsoft
has developed several new sounds. Once you install that upgrade, you
really can't uninstall it (including the new sounds). You should hear the
sounds that windows makes when you try!. We all just have to get used to
it. You could try writing to microsoft.
