I have recently upgraded from windows 98 to XP Home
Edition and I no longer have sound. I have gone through
my troubleshooter and tried everything that I can think
of. I even downloaded the updates from the Microsoft web
site. Someone please tell me that there is some simple
thing that I have to change in a setting somewhere that
will fix this problem.

Mike, you may have to install the XP audio drivers. Also, go to Control
Panel>Sound and Audio Devices>Check in
Volume and make sure no mute boxes are checked click on Advanced and look
there
