Per Microsoft, we installed the Microsoft Outlook for e-mail to replace MS
Express. Now I cannot get the sound alert for e-mail to work. The e-mail
sound alert settings are correct, I have a sound card (all other sounds
work), and the volume is turned up. I would appreciate any suggestions to
remedy this. Thank you!

Besides Control Panel, Sounds, New Mail Notification, you need to turn on
sounds in Outlook by selecting Play Sound in tools, options, email options,
advanced email options, Play a sound when mail arrives.

I have the same problem and I did exactly what Mary said - but it still
doesn't work. I switched over to Windows Live Mail and it works there, so
the problem is obviously Outlook and not Vista. Anyone have an idea?

I am still having this problem - I get sound with mail only occasionally. I
have asked the question in several posts, but no answers - anyone have any
idea what to do?
