Hi there, I have a bit of a problem and I can't find a solution to it. I am doing a slide presentation for a wedding. I have everything done on it. I packaged the CD and copied it to a disk so I could play it on my laptop and there is no sound. When I play the presentation on my regular computer the sound comes up fine. I included the sound files on the CD when I packaged it. I have tried to add the sound files from a file. I have also saved them to the clip organizer and tried to insert them that way. I also went to tools and options and asked to link the sounds if greater than 25KB No matter what way I insert them, they work fine on my mail computer, but, when I try to play the CD on my laptop they do not work. I am using WindowsXP and powerpoint 2003. This is on both computers. PLease help me, the wedding is Friday and I have to have this finished by this afternoon! THanks so much!

Even though you included the sound files were they linked properly when
inserted into the presentation?

OK, I am trying to understand all of this, you have to understand this is my first time using Power Point, so please be patient with me. I opened a new folder and copied the presentation and music to that folder. I then inserted the music into the presentation. I copied the presentation with the music inserted onto another disk and tried to play it on the other computer and it still did not work. OK, now I just tried to download the demo PPT tool and run that and that did not work either. Anymore suggestions?

Dan,
PowerPoint only embeds WAV files, and only those WAV files that are of
certain sizes and smaller. What does this mean for you? You need to put the
entire folder onto the disk/CD to move it to another computer.

More information is available from this PowerPoint FAQ page:
Sounds and Movies don't work when I move a presentation

Hope this helps!

OK, The files that I am inserting end in wma. Is this the same thing as a wav file? Remember this is the first time I have use Power Point. :')) The link that you sent me to says that I have to copy my files to the same directory, I don't understand how to do that. I copied them to the same file folder and that did not work. How do I do this? Thanks so much for all of your help

Files that end in WMA are Windows Media Audio files not wave files. The key
is that PowerPoint creates a link/path to where the files are WHEN YOU
INSERT THE FILE. It is very important to create the presentation in your
folder and save it, THEN move the files into the same folder and insert
them. PowerPoint will link the files with a "relative" path. No "C:/my
computer/my folder/music.wma" whatever. Then you should be able to move the
presentation and sound files onto another machine or CD (in the same folder)
and run it.
