Sound across slides

Is is possible to set-up a background score to use across
slides and be able to pause the score for a time and then
start it, having it continue in the score at where I
paused it. When I go to the next slide it starts the
background score from the beginning and I would like it
to be continuous but also be able to pause it on any
slide.
