SOS - Help (Problem with the Secured BE database)

Guest

Hi,

I have a connection to a secure backend database. I connect successful and I
can read the data, only from the BE tables, but when I want to compact it or
transfer a table or to create a linked table in the FE it is imposible, also,
I have the same problem when I want to run a query between BE and FE tables -
I distribute the database and the data of FE tables usually changed - (I get
an error that I haven't permissions for the BE database (3033)). It is
posible only if I give the Users Group read table and open database
permissions. But i don't want to give this group permissions for security
reasons. Is there a solution (maybe via VBA)?

A solution Please - I' m trying to find a solution the last 7 days but
nothing :-(

Thanks!

Hi Stelios,
I saw your email and see no one has answered you and I know how frustrating
that can be...I have been there too. I can not give you a right out answer
to your problem but I can give you a few resources that may answer your
questions.

Below you will find all the information you will need to learn about Access
Security and how to set it up correctly. I usually suggest you read ALL of
the below, BEFORE you try to create your new security workgroup, but you have
already made one. Please take your time to read and understand how to do
this correctly. It will save you time and heartache!! The below links are
in the order as they should be read. (The first article, MS FAQs, is the
most important.)

Frequently Asked Questions about MS Access Security FAQs:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/access/content/secfaq.asp

Access Security Info - go to "My Access security methods (140 kB, 15 page
document, PDF format)"
http://www.geocities.com/jacksonmacd/AccessSecurity.html

This is another article I suggest you read:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnacc2k2/html/odc_acsecurity.asp

Good luck,
Mary
