Sorting Favorites

It's becoming quite a nuissance having to sort my favorites each and every
time I add a new one. Is there some way to permanantly set the sort order so
new additions are not added at the bottom of the list?

Thanks to Keith Miller for this tip:

If you want the Favorites to automatically alpha-sort even as new entries
are added, you need a registry edit. Navigate to:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Menu
Order\Favorites]

Delete the value named 'Order'. Also delete this value for any subfolders.
Then, with the favorite key highlighted, click on Edit > 'Permissions...' ->
'Advanced' -> 'Add' -> type your username in the 'Select User or Group Box'
and then deny 'Set Value' permissions to yourself. This will prevent IE from
recreating the 'order' value and it will default to alpha sort. This will
prevent the key from being automatically recreated.

Administrators (JOHN\Administrators)
Allow all
JohnG(JOHN\JohnG
Allow all
RESTRICTED
Nothing checked except default - allow read
SYSTEM
Allow all

Since I am the only user of this machine, this is all very confusing to me.
Should any of the above be changed?

Have you tried the advice exactly in my previous post?

Whenever you add a favorite, the name is added to the sort order registry
key. The idea is to deny write permissions for your user account, for the
registry key. So that the alpha-sort is automatically maintained.

Sorry! I was looking for a box that said 'Select User or Group Box'. That's
the heading for the whole window.

I now have the following listed under "Advanced Security Settings for
Favorites"

Deny - JOHNG\JohnG - Full Control - <not inherited> - This key and subkeys
