Sorting contacts

When I have my contacts open and sorted by Categories, and I have one of the
categories open, then click on the Field header (ie. full name), to sort just
that Category, it sorts the entire Contacts folder, deletes the Categories
and lumps all of my Contacts together.

I can tell that you have 2003 - isn't that just a GREAT IMPROVEMENT in the
way the Group By Box and clicking on a header to sort by it work!!!!!!!!!!
So far, I've found that over 80% of 2003 users that I teach Outlook to are
really annoyed by the change. I've made the effort to teach them ways to
manipulate their columns, group, sort etc and then this change stuffs it
around a bit.

The only way around it is...

Use Advanced toolbars to show the Group By Box. Now you can see when you're
grouped by Category, how it actually does it. (the Category column header is
in the Group By Box). If you sort by the field you want (Full Name) and
then drag Category into the Group By Box you should get the result you want.
