Sorting cells by date

Hi. While trying to sort a column of dates, a j appears in only one cell. It's causing me a lot of time-wasting grief. Any ideas what this is?

I can only think it must have been somewhere in the column before the
sort............try the Data > Filter > Autofilter and see if the "j" shows
up when you click on the header arrow...............if so, then it's
somewhere in that column.........if you don't want it to show in the sort,
then just select the range of your dates before sorting..............
