sort then sum

Can anyone help a newbie? how do you sort 4 columns from highest to
lowest numbers then add the three highest numbers together.
 
Which column has the numbers you want to add together?

Does the information in one column relate to the information in the other
columns on the same row?

Example:
A B C E
Joe Smith 02/02/06 Florida

Or are all four columns just numbers?
