sort sequence reversed

My sort sequence reversed, e.g., when sorting by date (modifed) the most
recent additions or changes are at the end of the list. What happened? How
can I change this back to the way it was?
 
Sort in details view by clicking the column headers. You can reverse the sort in details mode.
