Sort "Sents" by the "To" addressee, but only by the first addresse

Mike

In organizing my emails, I use Field Chooser and select "To" to sort by whom
I sent the email To. However, Outlook sorts by groups of people (rather than
just by the 1st person). How can I set this up to sort just by the 1st person?

Here is how Outlook works.....
Date To
10/3 Joe; Mary
10/7 Joe; Mary
10/8 Joe; Rachel
10/5 Joe
10/6 Joe
10/9 Joe

But I would like it to put all the "to-Joe" emails together as the first
person....
Date To
10/3 Joe; Mary
10/5 Joe
10/6 Joe
10/7 Joe; Mary
10/8 Joe; Rachel
10/9 Joe

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!
Mike

you can't as sorting by the To field does exactly what you have described.
It will be a different group if Joe and Judy got the email compared to email
only sent to Joe.

What are you trying to achieve? Have you looked at the Find all Messages to
.... or the Activities Tab of the person's Contact record?

Judy,

I have a ton of emails that come to me that I store in my archives. When I
search through my archived "sent" folder, I want to search by 2 criteria:
date & 1st person listed in the "To" field.

The problem with standard Outllook is that the sorting separates "Joe" as
the person in the "To" field based on who else I add in the "To". This makes
it hard to search through quickly all the emails I sent to Joe.

For example, I know I sent Joe an email (and he was the 1st in the "To")
about 10/20. However, I want to search through about 15 emails I sent to Joe
that week . However, I sent 500 emails to Joe that are in my in my archives
(for 6 months). When I sort, I cannot effectively search for for the emails I
sent to Joe (as the 1st person) for the week of 10/20. I have to go through
all 500 emails.

The sort that I show will help, but I am OK for another idea!

Thanks!

Have a look at using Categories as there's some obvious reason why you know
exactly who the first name in the To field is. So there must be a way of
Categorising.

Unfortunately, categories is not a good option. That is too much maintenance
-- I have to categorize every email as it goes out.

Since I keep the most critical contact as the 1st person in the TO field, it
is easy to find emails with the minimal amout of work (as long as I can sort
by that).

Is there a good way to make a User Field that parses the TO? I tried playing
that, but could not seem to work.

This has become an intriguing problem!

Thanks!
Mike
