Sort out Styles in task pane.

Using Word 2002. In constructing a document (and learning styles) I've
experimented with a number of different styles that now I want to sort
out and discard from the Formatting in Use/ Styles and Formatting Task
pane. Is there a way to determine which styles are actually in use as
opposed to what I've tried and is being displayed in the Formatting in
Use/Styles and Formatting task pane? I like to be able to select a
style in the pane and see where, if at all, it is being used in my
document now. If is not I want to delete it.
