sort multiple columns

good day all, i have a spreadsheet with muliple columns and rows.what i am
tring to do is sort all data by the date column and maintain the
corresponding row data to each date. any help would be appreciated.

Select all the data in your range and then choose Data|Sort
If you data has headers then choose 'my data has headers' and choose the
column to sort on

Try this on a copy of your data sheet. Select the entire table carefully
(this ensures everything will move together), then just do a Data > Sort by
(date col) > Ascending (say) > OK. And if the dates do not respond to the
sort, then they aren't real dates (real dates are numbers). You can try
converting the "dates" all at one go via Data > Text to Cols. Select just the
dates col, then click Data > Text to Cols. Click Next > Next. In step 3 of
the wizard, check "Date" under Col data format, then choose the appropriate
selection (eg: DMY) from the droplist. Click Finish.

Hi,

If your data setup meets the following conditions, just put your cursor in a
single cell of the column you want to sort on and click the Ascending Sort
button on the toolbar.
1. One row of headers (titles)
2. No data directly adjacent to your data that you don't want sorted (leave
a mote around your data.) For example no total row touching the data - it
may be sorted into the data.
3. No completely blank rows or columns within your data.
4. (Should not be necessary with your data) format the title row a little -
bold or center or underline or whatever.

Remember, Sort is undoable. Press Ctrl+Z if you don't like the results.
