Sorry I am confused

I have downloaded a bank staTMENT IN csv format. I would like to save
AS .XLS When I save it (after re-sizeing the grids) it saves as an
xls.csv file not a strait foreward xls file and i am back to square
one. i have to re-size all the grids again.

Is there a way around this please.

Yes I did to XXX.xls it changed it to XXX.xls.csv adding the CSV and
over wrighting my extension

No need to type the extension, choose save as microsoft excel workbook
(*xls)

Just to add to Peo's response:

In the File|SaveAs dialog, there's a dropdown box called:
"Save As Type:"
at the bottom.

Make sure you choose that "microsoft excel workbook (*.xls)" at the top of the
option list.

Sometimes when changing file type it's necessary to put quotes around the
file name in the "Save As" dialog box; for example,
"XXX.xls"

Desmond: Please confirm that when you try to Save As, you are clicking the
"Save as type" drop-down list at the bottom of the window and selecting
"Microsoft Excel Workbook". The evidence implies that you may not be.

If you're saving it as a real excel file, then I've never had to add the double
quotes.

If I'm saving it as a (say) text file (normal extension is .txt) and I want to
call it xxx.xls (w/o the .txt), then I'd use the double quotes.
