This may be the wrong place to ask this, I apologize if it is, but I can't
find another group to answer questions specifically about this particular
computer.

Some within the past 3 days my son has managed to either delete a program or
remove a related file.

It the file or program that installs the video/audio/tv hand held remote
control drivers. Support says to check to see if a certain file
"usbsirc.exe" is to be found anywhere. No, it isn't. And from there the
support suggested running the recovery disks. When I try to select the
application specific area, it is greyed out. And, I wouldn't know what the
heck I am looking for anyway.

Can anyone help me with this? Much appreciations and one swat to the kid
for every helpful tip I get.

Thanks in advance,
'nutherBob

This may not work, Bob, but could be worth a try.

Place the recovery disc in the drive, (hold down 'Shift' to stop it auto
starting).

Go to Start/Search and have Windows search your CD-ROM - Probably E:\ if you
have CD-RW.

When/If usbsirc.exe pops up you can drag it to the folder where it belongs.
If you don't know where to put it, put it in a safe place and ask Support.

Good luck,

Ed

Just do a System Restore to before your kid hosed your computer. Then
deal with him appropriately so he doesn't do this again.

Malke

Voila! Thanks Ed. Worked perfectly.
Kid dealt with appropirately as Malke suggested, and system restore points
are scheduled. :)

Bob

Thanks Malke. I thought that System Restore point might fix it, so I tried
that first, but alas, the critter managed to completely delete the file, for
which he recieved a teaching example from me. (He's a good kid, just likes
to fiddle with technology... can't keep toasters in the house..). I did
what Ed suggested and it's working fine now.

Thanks for the help folks!
Bob
