Sony digital handycam to PC connection

How do I get my pc w/ XP to recognize my video camera and
allow me to capture video or a photo off of it??? Do I
do this in movie maker or windows media player or can I
do it in both? Thanks everyone!!
 
Do you have an ieee1394 (firewire) PCI card installed?
Using that should allow the computer to recognize your
camcorder. THen you can use movie maker to edit your
video.
