something positive on SP2

Just wanted to say that I finally got up the courage to install SP2 and so
far (knock wood) I am having no problems. After reading so much negative
feedback on SP2, I thought i would post something positive. Some steps i
took before installing it were to run Adaware, Spybot S & D, and my paid
version of Spyware Doctor. I also did a virus scan with NAV, ran check
disk, and defragged prior to installing. Then I did a scan with Bazooka to
make sure my system was clean. I then closed all programs that were running
in the taskbar and disabled my NAV and my Norton Internet Security. I had
no problems with the installation and it only took about 15 minutes (if
that) to install. Don't know if I went a little overboard with making sure
my system was clean but, it worked for me.....lol. Was just reading in
another post that defragging is a must after installing SP2 so i'm going to
do that now. To all of you who are hesitant about installing SP2, the only
thing I can say is to make sure you get rid of all your spyware and malware
prior to installing and also make sure your computer doesn't have any
viruses or trojans. It was smooth sailing for me once I was sure my
computer was clean. Good Luck!!

I had no real problems either. Just some settings to get straight. In
fact I swear my system is more stable now.

But I didn't defrag before or after. I fired up the defragger afterwords
and it said it was not needed. Doesn't seem to affect me not defragging.

You did what all users should do.. no more, no less.. your ability to read
and comprehend is exemplary.. your desire for a system that works well is
commendable.. way to go..

Unfortunately the nature of the newsgroups is that people come
here for help with their probelms. So you see very few posts like
yours, talking about successes.

But thanks for posting this. Your experience is the same as mine
(on several machines). It's good for others here to see even a
little balance in reporting of people's experiences.
