Some (not all) links in e-mail do not connect

On some links in newsletters I receive in email, the link opens a new window
and the status line at bottom of window shows "Done" but there is no screen
content. The problem doesn't occur in all emails, but is continuous month
after month in the same ones. These are prominent senders, so it doesn't
seem there is a problem with their content that they wouldn't have fixed a
long time ago. Any ideas?
 
I found that if I delete the transferring path & leave only the destination
URL in the address line, I can get the content. Not sure what that
indicates. The download you suggested was useful in identifying and removing
many harmful files & cookies that were lurking in my PC. Thank you very much!
