I'm doing a mail merge in Word. I'm using a standard Avery template for name
badges which places 8 names on a page. I have a secondary file that contains
the name data that I use to merge from. Each label contains the following
information:
«FirstName»
«LastName»
«Church», «City»
«Next Record»
The problem is revealed after the merge. The first 8 names are placed
correctly on each badge on the first page. When the merge places the next 8
names on the 2nd page it skips a name from the database. This goes on
successively for each page. The first name at the top of each page is
skipped, so I have to go back and find the name of the people skipped and
manually enter them in. Let me try and clarify one thing. All 8 badges on a
page are filled with a name, but the merge process skips a name from the data
file after every 8 names.
The interesting thing is that I have always encountered this problem no
matter which computer I have used or even if I was using a different software
such as WordPerfect. What am I doing wrong? I'm thinking operator error,
but is it?
