Some journalling questions

Our department just changed the way we have to track and log our time, so I'm
looking at using the journal more often (one of the last true Outlook
mysteries for me). I've already found the answer to one of my questions re:
adding new entry types (thatnks for the link in the entry dated 9/21 Sue!).
Now I have a coule other elementary journal questions if anyone can help:

-- Is there any way to track info from contacts who are members of our
Exchange Global Address list, but are not created as individual contacts in
my installation? I don't see any way to add those contacts in the tracking
config.

-- Is there any way to auto-assign a category based on the Entry type? So
if I want to create a custom entry type of "vendor support", can I have it
auto-categorize to my existing category of "vendor"?

Any other handy tips on how y'all use the journals would be greatly
appreciated. We're all trying to figure out how to get organized around here.

No. Outlook can track only contacts in each user's Contacts folder.

Not without your own application that works with journal items.

Sounds like you might want to explore some of the many CRM apps that work with Outlook data. See http://www.slipstick.com/addins/contact_management.htm

Thanks Sue! It seems I'm always trying to eek something out of OL that it
doesn't want to do natively. The company is looking at some CRM apps anyway,
so maybe I'll throw this listing at them as some that will help for internal
tracking too.

(with a belated apology for the terrible typos in my original post!)

Can you please include the link for adding journal entry types 9/21 of what
year? - need and can't find.
Thanks to the "community" for ALL their support.
