Discard it and redesign it from scratch, in some program such as C++, VB.NET
or Visual Basic.

Access applications cannot - by their design and by the fact that they exist
only because of the Access programming environment - be compiled into
standalone programs.

You *can* get a Runtime version of Access; it's even free with A2007. But to
run an Access application you need Access.

If requested, a computer can have Access installed when bought. If not then
a Windows installation disk should come with the computer.

Thanks John. So if you have A2007 you can give it to your friend and if he
does not have Access he can use it??

I have not used the runtime with v2007 but the previous versions required you
to install a file on the workstation which does not have Access. Then a
compiled version of an Access database can be run on that workstation (the
design cannot be edited).

You need to give them both the database - .mdb or a "compiled" .mde file - and
the runtime version of the Access program msaccess.exe. It gets installed
along with a whole bunch of .dll files; the runtime verision is "crippled" so
that you can use an existing database, but not make any design changes to
forms, reports, etc.

Check out Tony Toews' website http://www.granite.ab.ca/access. He has a whole
section on distributing applications. It's quite a bit of work to do it right,
but the bottom line is... yes, your friend can use your database without
having to purchase Access.

Use the new Access runtime 2007 for your friends. It runs Access 2002
databases. I have run 2002Databases on it. DO NOT INSTALL IT ON YOUR
DEVELOPMENT MACHINE. it will disable your 2002 Access. Set up a virtual
machine for testing.
