Software to get rid of registry entries left by deleted trojans/worms?

Someone runs an anti virus program and delete dozens of trojans, worms
etc. Left behind are all sorts of registry entries, startup entries
etc. is there any software that can recognize these and delete/fix?

A good registry cleaner should alert you the entries that correspond
to missing executeables. Norton System Check (as part of the old
Norton Utilities) is one that I've used for years on Win 98 and Win
ME. It's quite good. The freeware RegSeeker is also useful. But
something like Microsoft's RegClean is "too mild" ... only correcting
more minor problems (from what I have seen).

Insofar as other startup axis items, I like KAV's TrojanFinder (see my
web site). But recognition of illegitimate entries is not automatic.
It requires knowledge. And deletion must be done manually.

For your own personal PCs, it's a good idea to become familiar with
all normal startup axis items and be ready to recognize any intruders.

I like easycleaner by toni arts, Never left me in a bind, but like all
programs, you have to be careful as to what it deletes

V-COM's Fix-it or SystemsSuite has an excellent registry cleaner. It's
thorough, yet clearly defines those registry entries that are low,
medium and high risk candidates.

McAfee stinger removes registry entries from trojans/worms that it
detects if it finds the executable. I'm pretty sure Symantec's
removal tools do the same..
