It's very hard to answer if you don't tell us what the error
messages are.

And what about Office 2000? Or it MUST be the newest one?

No, all the Office versions you mention--95, 97, and 2000--as
well as XP and 2003 will run under Windows XP.

What error messages are you getting? And no, it doesn't have to be the
"newest" one... if it did, MS would be out of business due to lack of sales,
since no business would put up with that...

Hi,

Try Office97, and try installing it using compatibility mode for Win98.
Check under all programs/accessories for the program compatibility wizard.

Hi!

I don't remember they exact words in error messege, but it said something
like "the environment or OS or something doesn't match the needs of the
application (Office)" like it doesn't belong here....something like that.I'm
sure as h*ll won't try it again.
I have better things to do than to reformat the HD and reinstall Windows
again.

P.S. "Supposed to" and real life, unfortunately, is not always the same :-(

Hey!

Offic 95 might be NINE years old...and me? I'm f*cking 30! So should I jump
out of the windows, because of that?
If it works-it works...And even comparing Windows 95 and XP...still-same
general idea.

Very helpful. Your answer is to try it again, copy the
error message word for word and post the question again. My
guess is that you tried to install a Mac version of OFFICE
on a Windows machine or something similar.

You might read all the manuals and labels on the CDs to see
if you can get some better info to report.

You should *not* jump out the window because you are 30,
but your seriously compromised intellectual capacity
might be a good enough reason.

Buy an English version.

Hi Alon:

Your Hebrew/English version of Office 95 might be made to work in XP
although I'm not entirely sure of that. I base my opinion here on the
fact that one can use the Hebrew IME for inputting Hebrew to MS
Office. But that's using an IME.... Your English/Hebrew version of
Office 95 may be different in that it might require the use of Hebrew
Windows to work properly.

Jim's advice to purchase a copy of English Office might be the way to
go. You can find discounted copies (legal copies) of Office 95, 97,
2000, and XP on eBay.

So you've installed it on your PC and no problems whatsoever? Just

Yes. Although I no longer have them installed, I ran both Word 95
and Excel 95 under Windows XP Professional for over a year here
with zero problems. I should add, though, that I have no
experience with any of the other components of Office 95 under
XP.

I'm thinking that the reason I see that type of message or get phone
calls for the same is as you know, not a software issue but perhaps a
hardware issue, eg the cd is old, scratched, dirty, deteriorated, been
left in the stack of your kids 50 game cds and been shuffled around like
a deck of cards for ten years :) so all the files may not copy thus the
resulting problems.
