I want to install software into only the Administrator's user account. (As
in only mine, and not the kids !!)

Can I choose this when I am prompted to "select destination folder" during
the installation, or do I have to install it, and then remove it from the
other accounts?

If you know how to do this, please send instructions !! (detailed if possible)

*note* I did try to install and then move into "owner" however it still
remained on desktop of other user.... I quite possibly did this wrong !!??

Hi,
Yes, you can do that if the Software have an option to Use this Program for:
( ) Only this user
( ) All user whom on this machine.
This an option and it may be not offered or it doesn't exist in the Software
design/Programming!.

You can install the Software with your Admin Account and use the GPO (Group
policy) to Prevent or Give access to this Software.
Note: the GPO only if you have XP professional?.

Or Install it then with the Admin Account Open the Windows Explorer and
locate these path and check:
For Ex...
[-] C:\

[-]C:\Documents and Settings
[+] Administrator
[-] All Users
Desktop
[-] Start Menu
you will see the APP listed here you can remove it or click on the
StartUp and remove it from there also.
[-] Kids
Desktop = Look in the right pane/window and you will see a
shortcut/icon for the software, please remove it by Shift + Del.
[-]Start Menu

The same As with All Users Expand and see if the App listed and Remove
it if it there and the StartUp.
Use access control to restrict who can use your files
