software installation via GPO help!!!

Hi, I am a student system admin for the CS Department at
University of Illinois. Right now, we have software
installation GPOs set up for the labs. The problem came
when we got about 30 tablet PCs and the students can take
them home and the assigned software packages won't run at
their homes.

One of the solutions is to run every single application
that they need once in the CS building via wireless(it's
slow but once every application is run once, it can be run
at home without the UIUC domain) But this solution is not
so good.

My question is that is there any way to fully install the
software(instead of just advertising it) onto the machine
via GPO so the users don't have to install them upon first
use?

Please help...

Thanks in advance

Assign the software to computer instead of user. This way it will be
completely installed at next computer startup.

not true...we have assigned the software to the computer
level. For just the very first time the user loads the
program, it will try to use the source msi from our
software server to download stuff.(the gathering
information screen and configuring software screen pops
up). Most of the stuff IS Fully installed. As you can
tell, it's bad for the tablet pc users because when they
leave the CS building, their wireless doesn't function to
connect to the domain.

Also it's really slow. We have managed to push VS.NET to
the pc tablets using Computer Configuration\Software
Installation and the first time it loads, it takes up to 2
minutes at the VS.NET loading screen. That's on 100mbit
switched network. The wireless connection on the tablet
PCs take even longer about 5-10 minutes.

Can any Microsoft Tech Support people provide us some
solutions?
