Software Installation not working

Hello,
I "think" I've created a custom package to upgrade a test Win2K machine to
XP. I've created a network share and copied all the XP Pro files from the CD
to the share. I've edited the winnt32.msi file on two lines
(RunSetupImmediate and RunSetup) changing the source path to the network
share source.
I've edited my unattend.txt file to store the answers for an unattended
install. Made a group policy that points to the winnt32.msi file and applied
that policy to the test machine.
HOWEVER...when I re-boot the test 2K machine, it shows as "Installing the
Windows XP policy" but it doesn't. I've check the App log and it says "The
install of application Windows XP Pro from the policy succeeded".
But it has not. Am I missing something?
Thanks

I'm having a very similar problem. Trying to deploy a very small
calculator, I too get succesfull status in the event log but nothing seems
to install. I've looked in Program Files and there is nothing there however
it does appear in add\remove programs.

I have assigned it per computer and running a report in GPMgmt indicates
that the policy was deployed to that computer

One thing I did question was in the GPO I noticed that the option to
Auto-install by file extension option was checked, it is greyed out but it
is checked.

Thanks

Paul
