(I've preached the principles about what makes a good post, let's hope I
practice what I preach.)

I have a new computer with Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. I'm using
Outlook for email and Windows Mail for newsgroups. Outlook is set as the
default email program and I have no problem with sending links, etc.

The other day I tried sending a snipped image via email and I get a the
following error message:
"The snip could not be sent. Check that an e-mail program has been installed
and then try again."

I double-checked the defaults and everything appears to be fine. I've
searched both Microsoft's site and Google for this error to no avail. Has
anyone heard of this? Any suggestions or resolutions?

I may be stating the obvious, but I've noticed that In Control Panel\Default
Programs, that "Set program access and computer defaults" seems to take
precedence over "Set your default programs". Even when all appeared hunky
dory in "Set your default programs", some of my mail links, like Page by
E-Mail... and Link by E-Mail... in the File | Send menu in Internet
Explorer, were unavailable (grayed out), until I used the "Set program
access and computer defaults" applet (even though I only have one email
program, that being Windows Mail).

You might try toggling your defaults in "Set program
access and computer defaults" using the Custom choice. Expand its menu (at
the right of the radio-type button), then choose your email program (if it's
already chosen, choose Windows Mail, then choose Outlook), and then click
Okay. At this point, this is all I can come up with regarding your
problem...

Save the snip as an image file first, then attach it to mail as you would
any other file..

I'll give it a shot tonight........(Wasn't on the 'puter much yesterday.
Seemed more important to spend time with my husband on our anniversary than
spend time online with strangers.)

Hi JoAnn,

I can simulate the problem by denying access to my own temp folder (%temp%). Are you able to write to the %temp% folder?

That's what I've been doing - but why can't I do it the other way?

(BTW - how have you been, sweetie? Haven't see you around lately.)

I'll have to try that at home. I'm at work where we still use IE6 and
there's no updating in sight. ;-)

You have the choice of having it open an email and automatically adding it.
Or at least it tries and then tells me I don't have an email program
installed. Yeah, right. Me without email?
