SmartPhone and Mobile Demand?

J

John Puopolo

All:

Sorry if this is bit non-technical/off-topic, but I think this is an
important question...

What demand are people seeing for Smartphone/mobiile development out there?
Is it growing? Is it worth investing heavily in becoming a mobile/wireless
guru, or is mobile computing growing too slowly to support a PC-level
thriving community over the next few years?

Many thanks for your insights,
John

John,

Based on the high traffic we get on mobile related newsgroups, it certanly
looks like a busy area to me! In any case as new phones become available, I
think the demand will only grow more and more.

That owes itself to the tech-geek nature of
pocket pc users, not overwhelming masses.
And from what I see, "traffic" was much
denser five years back. Many boards today
are dead (or close to, say comatose), at
least the PPC ones I've come across. I
suppose some people have lives. You think?
PPCs and SPs are all too common; the thrill
is gone. I'm sure toasters were all the
talk ... about 100 years ago. Me, I'll
still talk about them (about PPCs, too).
I can recommend a toaster... interested?
