SmartArt conversion

If I decide to convert samrtArt back to bullet list without copying and
pasting that from the text pane how can I do that??

So you have a converted a bulleted list to a SmartArt object and want it
back to a bulleted list again? Not possible I'm afraid. The only thing you
can to do is follow your own suggestion. Click on the little arrows next to
the left of the smartart, select and copy the text, delete the smartart, and
paste the text back into the placeholder.
