Smart Tags

I cannot get the "Date Smart Tag" to work in Office 2003 Professional. Tried everything from re-installing to phoning Microsoft. The "Date" option is not even there... only the "Time" option, which does not work either.

come from an earlier version?

Hi

I got steamed up about the same issue some time ago with Word 2002

It turned out that 'smart tags' aren't all that smart after all.

For instance, there are many date formats in Word and smart tags doesn't
recognize a whole bunch of them.

I also type in French and although the options are the same, smart tags is
even worse at recognizing stuff in French.

So there are 'issues' with smart tags even if you manage to get it going.

Hi Dave,
It turned out that 'smart tags' aren't all that smart after all.
<g> They're only as smart as the people who program them.

I "dabbled" in this for a while, and I can tell you it's orders of magnitude
more difficult to create a "multilingual" SmartTag than for just a single
language. And the person writing it also has to think of all those date
formats, write them out, and program for them. Each individually. It's
incredibly nit-picky and time-consuming.
For instance, there are many date formats in Word and smart tags doesn't
recognize a whole bunch of them.

I also type in French and although the options are the same, smart tags is
even worse at recognizing stuff in French.
