We have 2 PCs at our company which do not log onto a
network, thus only have local accounts. We would like to
have these 2 PCs authenticate by using a smart card.

Can XP do this with built-in software? Or is 3rd party
authentication needed?

Any recommendations for cards & readers? Devices to
program the cards?

Dave,

I believe that smartcard login is only supported for
Active Directory domain accounts, not stand alone machines.
What are you trying to accompish?

1. Open XP's "Help and Support" program.
2. In the Search box type: Smart Card , and hit enter.
3. Click on "Log on to a computer with a smart card".
