I just installed Vista on a 4-month old HP pavillion. A small black line
appears on my screen in all programs and I can't figure out how to get rid of
it. When I booted up today, it moved from the left side of the screen to the
right side.

Any suggestions

You can try Degaussing the monitor (if it's a CRT). Another thing to look at
would be your video drivers. Go to the HP website and see if you have the
latest video drivers for Vista for your PC model.

Unlikely to be either of those.

I've had the same problem, a small black line on the monitor. Each time you
restart it seems to move around. Also, if you highlight it with your mouse
it disappears until you unclick. So it's not a monitor problem. I'm curious
if it is the video card. THe video card is only 2D capable, so I was
thinking about upgrading to a cheap 3D video card so that I can get the full
windows vista expereince.
