SM Bus Controller

Just built a new computer and installed XP for the first
time. All my software appears to work fine. Under device
manager, there is an exclamation mark beside "other
Devices" where the item is "SM Bus Controller". I have
no idea what it is. I can't provide the driver(s) for the
hardware unless I know what it is. I tried removing the
item, however on next boot, Windows advises me that new
hardware is detected and then asks for the drivers. ...
This is one minor frustration in an otherwise flawless
install. ....I would appreciate any suggestions on the
matter. Thanks

Part of the Intel Active Monitor program that monitors temps and fan speeds
on your Intel Mobo. Just go to the Intel website and download the latest
version of Intel Active monitor and install it. Read the instructions
before doing so.

If it's a Toshiba notebook or other notebook with built in card reader, you
need to go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the
drivers for the Smart Media Bus Controller.... which is the other fancier
term for the card reader.
