Slowwww PP performance while printing

While trying to print a 10-page PP job, the computer's
performance gets incredibly sluggish. I can't even move a
small text box around while the printing is going on.
I've noticed this doesn't happen w/ earlier versions of
PP, so I'm thinking the problem is OfficeXP. My system is
2000 SP3, with 512MB RAM. I don't think it's a hardware
issue. Any suggestions? (I already tried uninstalling
Norton Antivirus, to no avail.) Thanks.
 
Tried that, but it didn't have any effect. The computer
was actually right smack in the middle of printing a
Powerpoint job when I deselected it, so maybe it won't
take effect until after that job is done. I'll try it
again with a new job once it's done.
