slowdown

my computer has started to slowdown, the egg timer freezes, then i get a
message saying this program is not responding, though it evenntually does if
i leave it.can you please advise. thank you.

Do a spyware scan for your computer. Webroot Spysweeper or Lavasoft Ad-Aware
may help you about this. Also to optimize your computer you can use CCleaner
or Tune Up Utilities 2006.
 
Run updated virus and spyware scans.
Also check the startup axis for unnecessary programs loading at startup.
